Overview
The four year PKP Diploma Program provides approximately 3800 hours of learning
and is the most comprehensive, student-centered training available in Kinesiology
worldwide. The in-depth program blends theoretical study and practical experience,
enabling students of all ages and backgrounds to learn kinesiology and become
highly skilled and sought-after practitioners. In New Zealand, the home of PKP,
the ICPKP Diploma is the equivalent of an undergraduate (bachelors) degree.
Students enrolled in the PKP program through the International
College of Healing Arts will have access to forums and help
from ICPKP’s interactive website www.icpkp.com.
The PKP Certification Programme can not be taken remotely
via the internet. Students must enroll with an accredited
college and attend classes. In addition, students can easily
transfer between colleges (and countries) with the agreement
of both colleges. See www.icpkp.com
for the list of countries with an accredited college.
On graduation, students receive an International Diploma from the International College of Professional Kinesiology Practice. In New Zealand, the home of PKP, students may also receive a National Diploma in Kinesiology issued by the Government’s NZ Qualifications Authority.
This cybercollege programme was developed by medical doctor, Bruce Dewe MD and his wife, a teacher, Joan Dewe MA. Both Bruce and Joan have taught kinesiology workshops around the world for 20 years. Their unique finger-moding system, 5-Element and Amygdala Emotion Charts added new dimensions to consulting and take away guess-work from the process.
Ken Campbell, the International College of Healing Arts faculty
for PKP training, was trained directly under Bruce and Joan
Dewe, as spent 25 years in the western medical field, and
has extensive experience in both western and eastern energy
medicine and healthcare.(See Ken's
Bio for more information)
The ICPKP Certification Programme teaches not only a wealth
of kinesiology techniques, but includes personal development,
relationship skills and the opportunity to make personal emotional
and spiritual growth.
Comparing TFH, BKP and PKP
To contrast, Touch for Health has around 80hrs of training altogether whereas
Professional Kinesiology Practice is a full-time, four-year course of study
that trains people as health professionals in the kinesiology field. In New
Zealand, the home of PKP, the ICPKP Diploma is the equivalent of an undergraduate
(bachelors) degree.
In a nut shell, those who have completed Touch For Health
are able to provide a certain level of kinesiology support
for friends and family whereas a PKP graduate is able to work
professionally with paying clients utilising a much deeper
knowledge of kinesiology, human anatomy and physiology, and
other modalities. Touch for Health forms an excellent foundation
for students wishing to study for the ICPKP Diploma.
This pdf chart offers a visual
comparison of the differences between TFH and PKP.
This chart offers a visual comparison of TFH, BKP and PKP.
Program Structure
The PKP program begins with a ten course series called Basic Kinesiology
Practice. Totalling approximately
350 hours of training. This series of courses provide you with a solid foundation
in kinesiology on which you can build the skills needed to become a practitioner.
The program then continues with over 3 additional years
of a full-time course of study that trains people as health professionals in
the kinesiology field.
Basic Kinesiology Practice Program
BKP offer the first 10 courses in the PKP program. See the full BKP
Curriculum Description.
PKP Course Descriptions
The course work for the 4 year program begins with BKP then continues with
courses divided into the following categories:
(please note that all course descriptions link to the ICPKP website for detailed
information)
A&P
(anatomy and physiology)
A&P is the anatomy and physiology section of kinesiology.
EMS
(emotional spiritual)
Here we explore the emotional and spiritual issues that each one of us faces
daily and find new choices and healthy options.
PIB
(performance integrated behaviors)
In this section of study we look at the way we perform, how well we are integrated
and our instinctual behaviours.
OCT
(other complementary therapies)
This section covers areas that are common to many natural therapies; for example,
cultural sensitivity in a professional health practice.
JAF
(jems and flowers)
How are joints, adrenals and flexibility related? Here is where we explore these
relationships.
ECO
(personal ecology)
Represents the Personal Ecology side of life or the way we interface with our
enviroment and things like nutrition and exercise enhancement.
BFR
(business, finance and records)
Business, finance and records is a third level unit, not because it is hard
but because we don't need it until we are nearing the time when we move into
a clinc.
VEF
(vibrational energy fields)
The area where we look at Flower Essences and other more metaphysical issues.
MHP
(meridians and holographic perception)
Where we look at meridians and holographic perception.
BVL
(blood, viscera and lymph)
The area related to blood, viscera and lymph.
PDG
(pelvic diaphragm and girdle)
The pelvic diaphragm and pelvic girdle are areas with the
potential to cause pain and distress. We explore physical
and metaphysical aspects.
RBT
(regional body trigger points)
This where we look at the regional body trigger points.
HMR
(hypertonic muscle release)
The study of hypertonic muscle release can enable us to help
athletes who have muscles that do not release when they need
to.
MST
(Muscles, skin and tissues)
Muscles, skin and other tissues are the area we look at here.
We learn how to work with shoulders, wrists, knees and other
areas where muscles ache.
